Working safely at height with DENIOS

When working at heights, the right access solutions are essential to ensure safe access and stability. A wide range of access technologies are required in industry, from classic rung ladders to work platforms, multi-purpose ladders and scaffolding. The use of ladders, scaffolding or platforms depends on the respective requirements of the work task.

Working at height - work safely and ergonomically at the right height

A decisive factor when selecting a ladder is the working height. It describes the maximum height at which work can be carried out safely and ergonomically. The height of the ladder is just as important as the reach of the worker. The working height results from the standing height of the ladder and the reach of the person using the ladder.

As a general rule of thumb, the working height corresponds to the standing height plus around 1.5 to 2 metres, depending on the person's height and arm length. For example, if a stepladder offers a standing height of 2 metres, it can generally be used to carry out work at a height of up to 4 metres.

When choosing a ladder, it is important to consider the requirements of the job in question. When working at great heights, such as in high-bay warehouses, work platforms or large platform ladders are often required to ensure a stable and safe working surface. Platform ladders are particularly useful as they not only offer a large standing surface, but also increase freedom of movement and safety thanks to guardrails and slip stoppers.

Ergonomic aspects should not be ignored, especially when working at height for long periods of time, for example when maintaining machinery or working on façades. A stable and comfortable stance on a platform ladder can significantly reduce physical strain and therefore also increase work performance.

Finding the right climbing solution

The selection of access solutions is large and offers the right work equipment for every situation. In the DENIOS online shop, you will find a wide range of ladders and access equipment, including:

  • Single ladders
  • Double ladders
  • Stepladders
  • Telescopic ladders
  • Podium ladders
  • Working platforms
  • Scaffolding

The right solution for your needs

The areas in which ladders are used are as varied as the demands placed on them. In day-to-day operations, different heights have to be climbed regularly, which means that the choice of the right access solution must be carefully considered. Each work application has its own specific requirements. A few questions should therefore be clarified before purchasing a ladder or work platform:

  • What tasks need to be completed?

  • What substances will be used?

  • What tools and materials are required?

  • How long will the ladder be used on average?

  • How much strain will be placed on the employees?

  • What ergonomic aspects need to be considered?

  • What is the volume of traffic at the work site?

  • How much space is available?

  • What is the nature of the ground?

Criteria for selecting the right ladder

To find the right ladder for your needs, the following factors should be taken into account when making your choice:

  • Work task: What activities are to be carried out and at what height?

  • Ergonomics and ease of use: How comfortable is it to use over long periods of time?

  • Period of use: Will the ladder be used frequently, or is it more likely to be used sporadically?

  • Ground conditions: Is the ground stable and level, or does a special stand solution need to be found?

  • Traffic volume: Will the ladder be used in an area where there are a lot of passers-by or vehicles?

  • Conditions of use: Do special safety aspects need to be taken into account, for example when working near electrical installations or on falling edges?

The various ladder types at DENIOS

In the DENIOS online shop you will find a large selection of ladders for every need. All ladders are made of robust and weather-resistant aluminium, which offers high corrosion resistance. The ladders are equipped with profiled, 80 mm wide steps that are firmly flanged to the stiles and offer a load capacity of 150 kg. In addition, 2-component foot plugs ensure a secure hold on the floor. All models are TÜV-tested and EN-certified.

  • Leaning ladder: These ladders are leant against a wall or other stable surface. They have between 7 and 15 steps and are equipped with non-slip foot plugs and rubber feet.

  • Double ladder: Can be climbed on both sides, with 3 to 12 steps per leg. Safety belts and 2-component foot plugs ensure stability. Models with locking castors enable easy repositioning.

  • Podium ladder: Provides a large standing surface and stable footing at a height of up to 3.30 metres. Safety bars and a storage tray for tools make the work process easier.

  • Stepladder: Accessible from one side, with 4 to 12 steps. Particularly practical are models with integrated castors that lower when loaded, ensuring a secure footing.

  • Telescopic ladder: Ideal for rescue operations, easy to fold up and quick to use. Available in lengths from 5 to 12 metres, with a TÜV-certified load capacity of 300 kg.
